Tim Brennan is an independent artist and poet. He has exhibited internationally across 5 decades. His practice is metaphysical and uses many techniques: from drawing to recital, from walking to sculpture among others. He explores the continuity (the monad) of ages and things past present and future and understands earth energies and ritual as a driving forces in his work and life. Tim Brennan is Professor of Art, Head of Department Art & Performance, Manchester School of Art, Manchester Metropolitan University. Brennan studied Fine Art at The Slade School of Fine Art under Stuart Brisley, Susan Hiller and History at Ruskin College Oxford under Raphael Samuel and Hilda Kean. He is an independent contemporary artist whose practice is comprehensive including performance, writing, music, drawing, painting, sculpture, photographs, digital works, video and curating. He is best known for being the first artist to consistently apply the use of walking in urban, rural and interior contexts.
