I’m overdoing the posting so I’ll leave you in peace. Thank you.
The laity of the Catholic faith can perform a baptism in emergencies and is valid.
Don’t worry Dowrgri I am not about to tell you that Jesus loves you and repent. Overworked religious sayings have the opposite effect in my opinion. I had a priest come round my house to bless it when I first moved in and he left some holy water behind so I baptised all of my daughters, they were all at an age to consent to baptism in the name of the father, the son and the holy spirit. But now none of them profess any belief in spirit let alone Christ so I don’t force it on anyone. People believe in what they believe or they don’t believe in anything at all but the present day life.
Hi Dowgri thanks for your reply personally I believe in it and am familiar with The New Testament. Most Catholics are indoctrinated from childhood via faith schools and it has only been recently that personal Bible study has been encouraged. Even during my mother’s lifetime the Mass was said in latin and the faithful responded by rote.September 17, 2021 at 2:17 pm in reply to: Hello everyone, I am new here. Sorry chaps I have hijacked someone else’s introductory thread by going on about things. I think spiritual experiences and the claim to them are frowned upon by the Catholic church as you are deemed as not being a humble follower of Christ. I can only say what I think and I think this is an open minded forum with people who have similar experiences, I rarely discuss such topics in every day life. So thanks for putting up with me it’s much appreciated.September 16, 2021 at 11:14 pm in reply to: Hello everyone, I am new here. Hoping to learn, share and make friends #13929
Hi guys thanks for your response. personally I believe the Bdo and the obod are niche organisations because if you profess to spiritual experiences in life you are resigned to the psychiatirc ward. I think the Catholic church has lost all spirituality. Beings of light and darkness exist but it depends on the labels you give them to some it is Angels and Demons and to to others it is beings of light and dark. Most haunted and other tv programmes don’t help it is just drama.September 14, 2021 at 2:19 pm in reply to: Hello everyone, I am new here. Hoping to learn, share and make friends #13923
Just for the record David not all in between state dreams are frightening and unpleasant. I woke up one fine summers day at dawn to distinctly hear a chorus of Angels singing it was the most beautiful sound in the world and I believe I often see and sense Angels as orbs of gold light during the day and it is hugely comforting.September 13, 2021 at 8:02 pm in reply to: Hello everyone, I am new here. Hi David I think the in between state of dreaming and waking is an altered state of reality. That experience happened many years ago and I have never forgotten it. There is a definite feel to a spiritual experience rather than just a dream and I have come to trust such experiences. Those demons were very real.September 13, 2021 at 11:03 am in reply to: Hello everyone, I am new here. Hoping to learn, share and make friends #13913
Hello and welcome Scratchy. I see a couple of you are claiming familiarity with the occult. Occult means hidden knowledge so can come across as a mysterious activity. I’m familiar with the spirit world but those experiences tend to happen on their own or through dreams I do not seek out such experiences any more Years ago I sat in a pub and read tarot cards for people, I didn’t find it a particularly rewarding experience although I got good feed back for my attempts at reading. I also had a frightening in between state dream one night during which a group of pig faced demons entered my room so I’m more careful when dealing with the spirit world as you don’t know what you are inviting in.September 11, 2021 at 10:54 am in reply to: Hello everyone, I am new here. Hello Archemedion-the -Mage. Welcome. I hope you enjoy studying both courses. I take my hat off to you for doing two together!.
Thanks Dowrgi, I will definitely stick around the forum although I don’t post much. I think the BDO is a fine and reputable organisation and are taking their responsibilities seriously. Helping people to open up to the spiritual realms as I imagine the Ovate course does is a huge undertaking and must be handled with care and responsible tutors. Hopefully I will make that commitment to the Bardic course later this year or early next year.
I ordered the first booklet from BDO and found it interesting however I don’t think I have the time to commit to further study at the moment. As for the right of BDO to withdraw someone from the course I think it is sensible. I went over to OBOD site and looked at their courses and they don’t recommend that anyone with certain mental health conditions namely schizophrenia and paranoia take their courses as they may prove harmful to their metal health.
Hi Dave that’s a coincidence, I’ve recently dug out an old bird bath and filled it with water and the sparrows have been drinking from it already. I’ve also hung bird feeders in the garden and coconut shells filled with suet and the birds empty all of these in a day! I’ve read that once you start feeding birds you have to continue as they become reliant on the source. I’m hoping to attract some blue tits as well as sparrows into the garden. It can be an expensive game !
Peace be with you Dave. I don’t think Muslim bashing is very helpful and I think Islam is vastly misunderstood. I have read the whole of the Qur’an from start to finish and it contains some beautiful and profound Suras. I don’t think you can lump a whole religious group under one umbrella of behaving badly towards others.
Hello John. I’m old as well.
