A couple of months ago, I sent from Ebay for Isaac Bonewists’s Book ‘Essential Guide To Witchcraft & Wicca” and came upon something interesting in Chapter 5.

Chapter 5 is called ‘Witches As Pagan Cultists? The Theories Of Margaret Murray’. In this Chapter, Bonewits writes about what he had learned about what he refers to as the ‘Cunning Folk’ who are Pagans who managed to practice their Sacred Craft in Secret and managing to get away with it during the ‘Burning Times’.

In this Chapter, he writes about what he had learned from the Books, Research Papers and Lectures of Margaret Murray on how the Wicca Pagans kept their Mysterious Cosmologies Secret & Confidential. The whole Chapter is pretty much devoted to Margaret Murray’s Writings.

Seems she was a Major Scholar of Egyptology and also the Sacred Arts of Ancient Pagans and they keep their Arts Preserved during the Burning Times of the 13th & 14th Centuries.

Margaret Murray was an Anglo-Indian Egyptologist, archaeologist, anthropologist, historian, and folklorist. The first woman to be appointed as a lecturer in archaeology in the United Kingdom, she worked at University College London (UCL) from 1898 to 1935. She was president of the Folklore Society from 1953 to 1955, and published widely.

Born to a wealthy middle-class English family in Calcutta, British India, Murray divided her youth between India, Britain, and Germany, training as both a nurse and a social worker.

In the Chapter, Bonewits mentions the Book ‘The Witch-Cult in Western Europe in which Murray had published her ideas on the subject.

It is available on Internet Archive. So I might download it and give it a read over:

Just finished watching this 22 Minute Informative YouTube about Margaret Murray that I recommend:

There is some problems with the YouTube’s Audio, but the Information that Honors Margaret Murray makes it well worth the watch.
