In Today’s Reading, I noticed how Nichols tends to compare how a lot of South Pacific Island Native Anthropologies were quite similar to that of the Irish Paganism and goes into how a John Willoughby Layard had gone to the Malakula Islands to Examine & Record their Culture. Nichols does not say when Layard was there so I looked it up. It was in 1914/1915 and he lived to 1974.

In the Chapter today, Nichols goes over the Spiritualities of Long & Round Barrow Tombs and they are orientated to either SE/NW or to the East.

Today’s Reading of Nichols’s Book revealed a couple of other interesting things.

First is the Black Book of Caerthen in which it states that the Ancient Druids did know of Ancient Greek Writing.

Then I found the Story of the ‘Gristhorpe Man’ which was found in 1834 in the Yorkshire Village of Gristhorpe.

It also goes into the Story of how the Romans took over England. Mostly by Political quale getting SE English Kings to become their Allies as well as Military Force.

Finished the 75 Page 1st Chapter yesterday that went over the various Races that had come to England in the Pre-Neolithic Days covering the Partholans and the Nemedians who came to England.

Then I read over the Part called ‘A Gaelic/Cymic Anthology’ in which there was a lot of Welsh Poetry about the Bitter Wars that were fought by the Welsh with the Edwards of England and those Poems turned out to be English Translations of Poems from the Sacred Black Book of Caemarthen. Those Poems either relate Reverence for Nature or address the Hardships of having to deal the Bitter Wars.

Here is one of those Poems called ‘Doomsday’:

…When the All-Fatherdescends—
with his ranged hosts descending for the judgement of the creation —
at the four corners of the earth the great horn is blown,
the sea begins burning—
the sungodly people of all the earth are burning—
only the embers of them remain:
let the wilderness of the world be on fire—
before the great Doom is proclaimed.

This sounds much more like the Norse Ragnarok,
the fall of Heaven and the Old Gods.

The next Chapter is called ‘How Far Underground: A Study Of Areas And Festivals In France & Britain’.

After going over the Histories of the Mount Haemus Grove that started in 1245 and how the St.Pauls Cathedral and a place called Ludgate Hill was once the Site of a Temple to Diana. Then the Chapter then goes into an indepth description of the 8 Sacred Harvest Festivals.

Then there is a listing of the Chieftains of the OBOD starting from 1717 to when Nichols took over. I found that in that section the information about how there is a Commemorative Marker for Iolo Morganwg who was there for a famed Autumnal Equinox Gathering in 1791 with the Chieftain David Samwell. The longest serving Chieftain was George Watson MacGregor-Reid.

The last part of the Chapter chronicles the Histories of 4 Druidistic Orders:
– The Bards of Cornwall (Cernow),
– The Welsh Gorseddau of Bards,
– The Triple Order of Brittany,
– And The Druidry of France,

The Next Chapter is called ‘Nine Groups Of Druidic Concepts’.

Starts off by pointing out that Water is the Most Sacred Element as it is the Element that Empowers Earth to be able to support Life.

Goes into the Cosmologies of the Hu-Hesus God, Teut Deity and Bel Deity and mentions that each Mountain is considered a Deity such as Mount Everest, Mount Olympus or the Apennines.

Mentions the Irish Mythology Land called ‘Tir-na-n’Og’ which is also referred to ‘Hy Brazil’. Gee, I guess that is where the Country ‘Brazil’ got it’s name from.

Found that our word for Garden comes from Ancient Celtic Mythology. ‘Gadarn’ is the Legendary Name for a Ancient Hero who originally lead the Celts into Western Europe at the time of the Iron Age Migrations. Gadarn was also the Deity of Seeds & Planting.

The Mother Goddess’s Name is ‘Grainne’ which explains where we get our word for Grain from.

There is a Word of Homage to the Horses as upon it’s Domestication, Travel became faster, Agriculture was Speeded Up and the concept of Calvary became used in Warfare.

Then in the Part about the various forms of Arthur, I found the Story of the Mystical Forest of Broceliande in Brittany France. Looked up it’s various Stories and found that there is a Tomb of Merlin there.

Then the Mystical Properties of various Trees is Chronicled such as the Oak, Yew and Mistletoe and which Trees or Plants is associated to each of the 8 Sacred Harvest Celebrations.

It then goes on with a couple of theories of how the Stonehenge Blue Stones got to there. It is theorized that they came from the Welsh Mount Mynydd Preseli, North of Milford. But there is a Archaeologist named T.C.Lethbridge who theorized that after winning a Battle against the Irish that the Blue Stones were brought from the Irish Mount of Killarus.

The Chapter ends with a telling of the Druidistic Story of Ceridwen’s Cauldron and that of Taliesin.

Today, I have been reading the Chapter ‘The Greater Sites Of The Britannic Islands’.

In it are a couple of good Diagrams on how Avebury & Stonehenge are set up and how they function.

There are several good Diagrams in the Chapter on how Stonehenge is set and how it works but this is my Favorite Diagram of how Stonehenge Works:

The next Part is about the Glostonbury Tor and reveals that there is actually some Subterranean Caves inside of it that is sealed off and mentions how there is a place called ‘Stone Down’ which is the Start of a Path that is NE of the Tor Hill and goes up the Hill. It also goes into Information on the Sacred Red Spring and the White Spring.

Part is about the Meini Hirion that is near Penmaenmawr Wales. But not mentioned is that there is another place called ‘Meini Hirion’ on Anglesey itself just SE of the Town of Tregele. The Standing Stones of Penmaenmawr have Two Stones that line up pointing towards where the Sun comes up on the morning of the Summer Solstice. It is said that it is in this area that the Artifacts of Arthurian Knights lays concealed and the Legends say that those Knights will only come back at a time that they are needed. It is said that the Sacred Welsh Red & White Dragons used to Fight each other in the Skies above Penmaenmawr. It is in this area that the Legendary Glaslyn Lake where it is said that Sir. Percival cast Excalibur after King Arthur was Mortally Injured.

The next Sites mentioned in this Book is the Scottish Islands of Lewis & Harris and also the Sacred Island of Iona which was a central seat of Mystical Power Druidism. Lewis & Harris Islands have several Sacred Sites such as the Cnoc Fillibhir Bheag and Ceann Thulabeg but goes into in depth details about the Circle of Airidh nam Bidean. Most of these Sacred Standing Stones in the Lewis/Harris Islands are nearby the Towns of Callanish and Garrynahine.

The next Part is called ‘The Temples of the Boyne to the Great Mother’ and it goes over not only the History of New Grange but also Cashel Aengus, Knowth and Dowth. They are all Burial Grounds or Mounds in the Boyne Valley along the Boyne River.

The next few parts of the Book is a Rehash of the Legends of New Grange, Knowth and Dowth and then goes into the a Site near Oxford called the ‘Rollright Stones’.

This is a Site that has a Circle called the King’s Men Circle of Stones, the Whispering Knights and the King Stone.

It is said to be a Highly Spiritual Place which has the Spiritual Energies of the Celtic Pan God who Dances about in the surrounding Valleys.

In Today’s Reading, there is mentioned a Legendary Land called ‘Bolerian’ which is in the SW Section of Cornwall and then mentioned is the Sites of ‘Boscawen-Un and the ‘Dawns Myin’ Merry Maidens.

Once again, there is mention of T.C.Lethbridge who was a Spiritual Archaeologist Dowser who used Dowsing to Divine Out the age of some of England’s Ancient Sacred Sites. I found a Informational Site about him but can not mention that Site as that will generate the ‘You can not create this post at this time’ Error Message:

The next Chapter is called ‘Druidic Wisdom’ and Part #1 is called: ‘The Early Welsh Heavens: Regulation of the World’ which is based on Alun Llewellyn’s Book ‘Aryan Path’.

There are 3 Cosmic Gaelic Words:
– ‘Tellus’ refers to both Land & Water.
– ‘Mundus’ refers to the Dimension of Time comprising the Sun, Moon & Planets.
– And ‘Summa Rerum’ referring to the Sphere in the Night’s Sky which is actually the Great Expanse of the Universe.

John Scotus Erigena indicates that ‘Summa Rerum’ indicates 3 Things:
– The Gods which have yet to be Created,
– Ideas expressed in Constellations,
– And the Local Divisions in Space & Time contained in Sun & Earth.

These Old Books have precise Observations of the Stars, Moon & Planets:
– The Book of Taliesin,
– The Book of Aneurin,
– And the Black Book of Caemathen.

In Book of Taliesin: ‘Gwyn’ is South, ‘Du’ is North, ‘Ruth’ is West and ‘Mellin’ is East.

There are 5 Spheres of Creation:
– Mars stood for Movement & Energy,
– Venus for Light,
– Mercury governed the Seas,
– Jupiter for Circular Movements & Origin.
– And Saturn for Limitation.

In todays Reading, there was a Tree Alphabet that consists of Modern 18 Alphabet Characters not including Qs, Ws, Xs, Js, Ys and Ks. I am familiar with Ogham Runes Writing but have never heard of this system.

Then the Chapter carries on with some Poems & Myths of which I found the Story of Finn and The Salmon of Wisdom. It is about a Apprentice who Cooks a Salmon of Wisdom for his Master but accidentally Burnt his Thumb on the Cooking Salmon and put his Thumb in his Mouth taking the Wisdom of the Salmon. That is similar in context to the Myth of Taliesin.

So after the various Poems & Myths, the Final Chapter ‘The Eight Fold Year Plan’ starts on Page #297.

Read through the Final Chapter which was about the Eight Sacred Sabbaths of Samhain, Winter Solstice, Imbolc, Spring Equinox, Beltane, Summer Solstice, Lughnasad and Autumnal Equinox.

The end of the Chapter posts two common Chants that are done during such Sacred Sabbaths which are the Bond Between Druids which goes:

Grant, oh spirit, Thy protection;
And in protection, reason;
And in reason, light;
And in light, truth;
And in truth, justice;
And in justice, love;
And in love, the love of spirit,
And in the love of spirit, the love of all existences

Then is the Peace to the Quarters.

Let there be peace within our sacred space from all directions!
Let there be peace in the North!
Let there be peace in the South
Let there be peace in the West!
Let there be peace in the East!
All – Let there be peace throughout the Worlds this day and every day!
