ParticipantHello everyone.
Just a thread to talk about the forthcoming festival of Imbolc. I’d be interested to know what people are doing to mark the occasion (if they mark the occasion). The traditional date is February 1st. I believe the astronomical date is February the 4th this year.
Candles, milk and honey are the basic ingredients of my celebration.

ParticipantI might be taking part in a group ritual as well as doing a ritual of my own. The most likely date for this is February 2nd. A whole lot of things will be taking place around this time, so I expect to be out a lot. Candles usually play a part in my Imbolc.

ParticipantThanks for replying. I’ll have something on the “official day” and mark the astronomical one too.

ParticipantI have now celebrated Imbolc over two days. The weather was windy but for the most part the rain held out. It felt very special this year. I did not see any snowdrops. Usually I see a lot of snowdrops around this time but this year, nothing. The full moon should be next. On an incidental note, I have heard that there are issues with the Rollrights; have they been vandalised?

ParticipantHello David.
I marked my first day of Imbolc with a walk down at the beach. I shall be lighting my candles and leaving out the milk and honey soon. A blessed Imbolc to you.
I’m so sorry to read what you’ve written. I don’t know anything about the Rollright Stones, and I’m a long way from Oxfordshire; however, I read that there was a case of vandalism at those stones quite a few years ago. I really hope not. What with the Glastonbury tree, the Men-An-Tol that was attacked/vandalised a few years ago and everything else that’s going on in the world, is nothing sacred?

ParticipantI stand corrected Dowrgi. The Rollrights have not been vandalised, they face problems from traffic. I have just discovered this: https://l.facebook.com/l.php?u=https%3A%2F%2Fyou.38degrees.org.uk%2Fpetitions%2Fprotect-the-ancient-rollright-stones-from-road-expansion-1%3Ffbclid%3DIwAR00S9ua4WBwsDwApeDjux-q6FV8FJ82Wet8YC5exoG3jjRDtaXVFZt1a5I&h=AT2H_5pbY0OPeUQibyoBIPnHBgJXKhYc4c6EO3JBqgWMPKTb7IkDz_XA9-a6ODqhOGh3gEXwQ8fCBuQ2Cs-atWz3vINVTkEuyOyJCrgxBM-FdzE5GuR8ZSieSfO6gaTQ7fInWSHq4MxU4_p1ICrs_yjoIbuEwbg7g0r-5cLrbcVrzCqbCc3fYvjB20hRjjOzQrp8BMp-83ydzxuYwDTcFdft49ilp-Vr_kdDu_qldN5nq4aryPEhVwV7iCiROuayiy1sh9zrYelduTGJamztoGQxwhlWZ3wi65TKKX0jjE2mt4I9aDZnclkrWpUtyR1Bj4SKLUAXuBiKSHjjpr2v5c1tukJN1LX3K-5wI05TcUATehOOZP_qOSNwKMGiKbQCN0oJ-_25vb-afCRVwGQ9EYcc_dNvJZQd711GVyrbDCgmXL31FYVc64nO9TSGK3Zyv9YOlOuivLUFpIhkVjNUaNxhcXyVgOgBVDeC5CdFeeq1TyoUD47iKVNoTEkQMJvBONHkSmQAlaVVrzrJkSPqXDyamVZvnCQnbhxdJPxHciEBvku0UxIkIt6XI5K-sTYD1p74gXLjxtxQ9sfmAr2cxn3jZVeXUANjWk0LCLvwmfHnP0JzAeAAancS0pAlqQ There is now a petition opposing road expansion. Different problem.
I have now seen snowdrops the signs of the wheel turning, I think our weather will be mild, I have seen hundreds of them in clusters so that has now changed. They are always a good omen in my view.

ParticipantHi there David. I’m glad to hear it, although I have read that there was a problem several years ago, as stated before.
Glad you’ve seen the snowdrops.
