Awens to All:

It is 1pm of September 26th and this Evening will have the Blood Berry Moon.

It is the time of the Blood Berry Moon that the Hedgerow Berries have been all Picked and made into Jars of Jam Sweet Tasting and Tart. Around here, the last of the Wheat is being Harvested and the Crab Apples are in Abundance with there being a Clear Sense of Worth of our Harvest.

The Autumn Equinox is the Festival of this Moon and Druids often use the name ‘Alban Elued’. Through the Course of this Moon, once the Equinox is Past, it is time to Recognize & Accept the Journey that we had taken through the Cycle of the Year with the Days becoming Shorter and Growth Slowing Down. Cold is Creeping in and now riding the Current taking us into Winter. This is the Seasonal Last Moon of the Harvest. For me, the Autumnal Equinox is the Celebration of my Ontario Druid Spirit Guide’s Birthday.

We Perceive the Taste & Smells of the Autumnal Season. The Crisp Chill in the Air can be detected in the Smells of Autumn. This is the time to give Thanks for the Harvest making sure that you are Fully Tasting all that you Eat while Honouring the Gods of the Land such as Lugh, Honouring the Ancestors and all that has poured Energy into you Nourishment.

The Element of this Moon is Flowing Water in the form of Rivers & Streams, Oceans & Rain. It Focuses on the Moving Cycles of Nature of Water having been Ocean, Cloud, Rain, Mist, Streams and Rivers and has been Drunk by ever Living Creature for Millions of Years. It has been Sweat, Tears & Piss carried Babies in the Womb and Bled onto the Land. As far as finding a Source of Flowing Water during these Weeks of the Blood Berry Moon it is No Problem as I have the Saskatchewan River flowing by just 100m West of my Window.

In Human Stories, one might reflect on being a Member of the Community, a People, a Tribe all sharing a History with others. In Druidry, we step aside from the Polarities of Right & Wrong, Good & Bad, we also work with the Black & White Notion of Fact & Fiction. Around here, we have our Stories of how the Aboriginal Natives used to use this area around Nipawin as their Winter Camps on the Western Side of the Saskatchewan River. It is during such Winters that the Warriors would set about their Micro Industries of making Arrow Heads, Spear Heads and Fishing Harpoons making good use of such time during Winter to get such Industries done.

In the Environment is the Wild Foods that are gathered and around her there is an abundance of Saskatoon Bushes. It is also the time to start clearing away Leaves now. There is still visible some Flowers that continue to Bloom. The Insects are starting to go into their Winter Pupations and the Mosquitoes are starting to disappear. Also, there are now Flocks of Thousands of Canada Geese & Pelicans flying South for the Winter.

In our Self Directions, we tend to take account of what we have achieved this Year and I have many Jars of Jam & Tomatoe Preserves. Our Own Creativity is Explored and Honestly & Integrity is taken in account as they are Important. I take the Story of my own Life as being one who is telling of a Hiroshima Survivor Tree that managed to Grow Back despite having been Burnt to a Smoldering Stump flat to the Ground and then managing to Grow All The Way Back. It is actually the time of year that I take stock of the Iolo Morganwg Created Myth of Einigan The Giant who went into a Year Long Lamentation of how his Words of Wisdom was Wrongly Interpreted by others.

In Ethics, the Powerful Word of ‘Loyalty’ is what I think is used more often nowadays than in the time of our Ancestors as a Crucial Part of Honour. At one time, there was so little Honour between Peoples that our Ancestors had to build Huge Circle Forts all over the place in order to keep the Dishonorable out. Along with Loyalty, one should endeavour to be Generous as well as having Courage.

This the Last Moon of this Perennial Cycle as the next one will be the Leaf Dance Moon which I started out with a year ago.

But stay Tuned as the next Full Moon will be Special for a reason that is Sacred to my Druid Spirit Guide.
