I think that we are making some kind of effort in our imperfect ways but it takes a lot of time to study and to incorporate the lessons and knowledge of the past; I don’t think anyone should underestimate how difficult an undertaking this is. I think that we partially follow the past and partially follow what we are told to do, and partially follow our hopes and fears and dreams. This is not to say that we are floundering, for I think that there are many good reasons to be making the attempt.
