They did not have to wait for long …

It might not have been a long time, but to Duncan it seemed like an eternity. His mind was racing with thoughts, perhaps a side-effect of the symbiosis contact he had just made. Initial contact with the Narhulans had indeed seemed positive, yet at the same time Duncan could not help wondering what Mac na hOíche had meant. Why had he described the Narhulans as fools? What did he mean by the Kings of Illusion? Why did these old druids always speak in riddles? And what of the strange manner in which, according to Mac na hOíche, the Kings of Illusion could be defeated? All of these questions were swirling around in Duncan’s mind, a whirlpool of doubt. Whatever the case, Duncan thought it well not to mention Mac na hOíche, and try to divert any “conversation” away from the shadowy Son of the Night.

Finally, out of the swirling, bending, mirage-like, wobbling, hissing light, two piercing yellow eyes fixed upon Duncan …

“Arghblad ….” “abeanl” “abue …”

Duncan could not make out these words, there seemed to be some kind of radio interference and fuzz around them and then …

“Terra-dwelling-one … I have come …”

The first words ever spoken directly between a Narhulan and a human …
