my life has taught me that what most deride, laugh and guffaw at is actually real - there is another side to being, there is a spiritual dimension, but it is a subtle shifting nebulous sense and it cannot be stuffed inside a test tube or pulled to pieces beneath the unblinking gaze of a microscope. it is there and it is not. if you go out actively looking for it, it will vapourise to nothing. there are scientific analogies, like trying to look directly at a distant star through a telescope - you won't see it, but if you look slightly to one side, you can discern the faint star at the edge of vision. these people laugh and snicker, they are actually afraid, they fear what they do not understand, and so they laugh to conceal their unease. but shadows are real as much as they are insubstantial - in that they exist - and deriding shadows will not make them go away.

synchronocity or what? The bulb in my batroom has just gone and it is one of those round ones, which my daughter has taken down and it is full of all manner of dead creepy crawlies and now because I am mom. I have been nominated to wash it out! Unbelievable!

I know the phenomenon, but it has never occurred to me to use it as such a beautiful metaphor and teaching tool
