Dr Who has changed to suit each era it's been shown in, IMO. The present climate favours philosophies that druids have always favoured and it appears in a lot of media.

I suppose Dr Who is the reason why our sciece fiction is not very influential in terms of science/technology. There is currently a prize to invent a medical tricorder like from Star Trek. However Dr Who inspired people would have to start with a box bigger on the inside than on the outside, that travels through time and space without actually flying: as a general rule. I wonder is the scientists that are inspired wonder if they will go down in history, or if they will be eclipsed by the inspiration.

Star Trek Next Generation took the Asimov approach to science fiction. They researched the latest papers on scientific theory and extrapolated ways in which they could be incorporated into a future world. They knew their audiences were more sophisticated than the original series. Dr Who gets around a need to be more sophisticated with more complicated, character driven plots, I guess.

I used to think of the tardis when I was A kid. I came to the conclusion that you are teloported to somewhere else, and you aren't really inside the tadris at all: about it appearing bigger on the inside than outside.

I always think my head is much bigger from the inside than the outside. My wife doesn't agree though.
