Druid Communities: The Midlands
Highley, Shropshire
The Druidic centre of Highley is Wild Ways, one of the three centres of activity for the thriving Cornovii Grove, whose members are drawn from OBOD, BDO and the Druid Network. The picture top left shows a small part of Wild Ways 80 acres of broadleaf woodland. Visit the Wild Ways website for more info: http://www.wildwaysontheborle.co.uk Highley itself is a large village with a range of shops, takeways and other facilities. The Severn Valley steam railway runs to Highley Station, with regular trains to Bridgnorth and Bewdley, linking with mainline trains at Kidderminster. About the same distance away is Ray's Farm, where you can meet many domestic animals and see wild ones too. For more exotic beasts, there's the nearby West Midlands Safari Park. There's a ferry across the River Severn at Hampton Loade, about two miles away. The Severn Valley Country Park is just across the river. For history buffs, there are castles, hill forts, abbeys, the ancient roman city of Wroxeter, and, a little further afield, stone circles on the Welsh borders. For the more relaxed visitor, there are numerous country pubs to choose from.
