BDO DRUID SPIRIT CAMP, 2010
May 30th - June 6th
Well, in spite of the bargain price, due to the failure of most of our magazine ads to appear, or to appear in time, we didn't get enough bookings to make the camp viable as a camp. Profuse apologies to those who did book but were unable to come. Well, we used the opportunity to get a few 'core' BDO folk together, since we and they were there anyway to prepare for and run the camp. We played some tunes, shared some stories, talked things over, drummed round fires, saw the stars through the trees and generally have a good, quiet time. As a result, we now have the beginnings of a Caledonian branch north of the border, which is wonderful. Oh, and we did some body-painting, which was great fun, truly transformative, beautiful and sensual. And I was able to show the BDO bardic booklets as far as they've got, which is quite far. There was ritual, colloquy and companionship. And there was the roundhouse, also known as the Mother Ship. Often, when walking away from it, I would have to turn round, go back and look at it again, just to be sure I hadn't dreamed it. Of course, in a way, I did ... we all did ... each of us who worked on it wove it with our dreams, hopes and prayers. Awesome. So the few of us who were there shared good times, and those of you who didn't book will know better next time, won't you?
